Janet Durkee - Salt Air Linen

Janet Durkee - Salt Air Linen.jpg

Like a sail caught in the winds of the North Coast waters, Janet Durkee’s love for textiles has carried her along the shores of Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. A 35-year voyage that began when she discovered sewing at the age nine. A spark of interest that lead to formal studies in textile design, and honing her skills at interior design workrooms and embroidery shops.

Janet eventually turned her focus to massage therapy, yet another way to lend her skilled hands to work she loves. When the tides changed with the pandemic and businesses were closed, however, she decided, again, to adjust her sails and return to sewing. Salt Air Linen, a small business designing quality clothing for small people is the result. Gorgeous linen dresses, overalls and other lovely fashions for children are custom made to order in here Rhode Island.

Janet and Makers + Holms have collaborated a line of simple, yet sophisticated, eco-friendly home accessories.
