We can adapt to the energy in the room,
or we can INFLUENCE
the energy in the room.

Rhonda Casey, Holistic Design Consultant

Weaving healing into design has been an organic evolution of my own trek home. Two roads diverged eventually became parallel, with a path for my work in human services/resources, and a path for creating and re-creating, many times over, a restorative and biophilic home place. An arduous journey with one common thread: relationships, family, mental and physical health, loss, grief, age – all impact how we dwell.

I believe in the value of self-expression and working with your hands as a conduit of joy. My hope is to inspire you to join me in celebrating artful endeavors and local craftsmanship for the home, especially as they fall in line with the higher-than-ever call of duty to protect our earth. Makers + Holm products and service are the sum of my experience, enthusiasm, and continuing education for meaningful interiors. A bachelor’s degree in Holistic Psychology that led to interior decorating studies, certification and professional membership, followed by ongoing course work in green interior design and designing for mental health - this knowledge merges with my passion to create a harmonious and healing interior environment.

It is my absolute pleasure to work with you.

WELLNESS, BY DESIGN

HOLM, a Danish word meaning small island, lends to our humanistic practice of treating your home like a sanctuary, created first and foremost for the person - where needs of mind, body and soul precede, function and visual elements follow.

The holistic home is inclusive of eco-friendly materials, sustainably-sourced home goods, elemental features and found objects of nature. Textiles are made from natural fiber or are upcycled/reusable. Color palettes support a nurturing environment; natural light and air quality essential. Personal and common spaces are uncluttered for optimal functionality. Locally made furniture is mixed with timeless treasures of the past.

Home is a reflection of who we are and what’s happening in our life. The ebb and flow of energy we bring into our personal space, interlaced with architectural elements, furniture placement, light, color, and air quality creates an energetic field of influence in how we feel and function. Holistic design harnesses the alignment of physical and natural elements with your goals for self-actualization - clearing the path for both transformation and beautiful interiors, inclusive of handmade goods and eco-friendly materials.

The Makers + Holm approach begins with cultivating centered spaces for well-being, special interests, life changes and challenges. How do you wish to feel in each and every space you reside in, what do you want to do there, and how does your home impact the people you care most about?

For Families with Special Needs and Challenging Circumstances…

If the way in which our homes are built, designed, and lived in profoundly impacts our well-being and the environment, then design services and eco-friendly materials should be accessible to more people. Makers + Holm is committed to bringing holistic design into the homes of families with special needs. We support and endorse programs that make it their mission to provide healthy and safe home environments for people of all backgrounds. Your business with M+H allows us to make a monthly donation to initiatives such as the National Center for Healthy Housing.
